Lacrosse Closes Regular Season on Senior Night

FAIR OAKS, Calif. – The celebration had to wait a week but it still was a special night for the nine St. Francis lacrosse seniors who played their final regular season game Friday night, defeating Bella Vista 18-5.

“Senior night meant a lot because this is four years wrapped up in a game,” said Erika Palmer. “Even though we started slow in the beginning, we finished out so strong. It made me so happy and proud of my team.”

Swimming and Diving Finishes Second at League Meet

CARMICHAEL, Calif. – The St. Francis varsity swimming and diving team finished second overall at the Delta League Championships on Friday at Jesuit High School.

“We did not go quiet,” said Head Coach Richard Levin. “We knew we had a challenge in front of us. They did not quit. Davis is a great team and our hats our off to them. We just needed a little more to get it done. We could taste it but we came up a little short this time.”

Swimming Leads after Day 1 at Delta League Meet

CARMICHAEL, Calif. – Aided by a strong performance by the Diving team, the St. Francis swimming team got off to a great start at the Delta League Swimming Trials at Jesuit High School Thursday.

“We needed some work done today and we got the job started,” said Head Coach Richard Levin. “Davis is a great competitor and competition. It is going to be a tough challenge tomorrow. But I think we are setup to compete for the win.”

St. Francis leads Davis by 34 points heading into the finals on Friday, which begin at 3:00 p.m.

Soccer (V/JV) hosts senior game against Monterey Trail on Monday and travels to Grant on Wednesday. Lacrosse has Sacramento Valley Lacrosse League playoffs on Wednesday and Friday. Softball hosts Sheldon (JV/V) on Wednesday and travels to Franklin (V) on Friday. The JV team plays Liberty Ranch on Thursday in their season finale.

Lacrosse Falls to Granite Bay in League Match

GRANITE BAY, Calif. – St. Francis fell to Granite Bay on Tuesday night 19-7 despite four goals from senior Maggie Anderson.

The Troubadours also got goals from Sarah Westover, Meg Anderson and Megan Hoffeditz. Westover had eight draw controls and freshman goalie Kate MacIntyre recorded six ground balls and made 12 saves on the night.

Senior Tiffany Wong Wins Delta League Diving as SF Sweeps Top Three

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Tiffany Wong edged sophomore teammate Molly Wilson by five points to win the Delta League diving title for the second consecutive season at Casa Roble High School.

“Tiffany and Molly have been great competition for each other all season and Molly has been tough to beat,” said Head Coach Dede Crayne. “It was very close today.”

Wong, who will dive at UC San Diego this fall, scored 418.30 for her 11-dive schedule.

Soccer Posts 6-0 Win over Sheldon

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Meredith Cook and junior Taylor Simpkins each scored two goals to help St. Francis to a 6-0 win over Sheldon Monday night.

“I am pleased not just with the result but how the result happened,” said Head Coach Maryclaire Robinson. “We got really solid, effective play from a variety of people. It is one of the things we have been missing.”

Golfer Alcoran Selected to Play in The First Tee Par-3 Championship

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Rising sophomore Olivia Alcoran was selected to play in the 2016 The First Tee Par-3 Championship at The Kanawha Club in Richmond, Va., June 21-26.

“I think it is a really cool honor,” said Alcoran. “It is a national honor and I am looking forward to meeting other players from around the country. I will be able to bring back some information on the rules presentations, speakers and leadership opportunities to the chapter.”

Divers Prep for League Championships with Sheldon Sweep

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Molly Wilson and Tiffany Wong were the top divers in a meet against Sheldon on Wednesday. Wilson scored 276.60 to finish first and Wong was second with a score of 273.45. Julia Endicott was third (225.40) and Katrina Yo was fourth with a 171.10.

St. Francis will compete in the Jesuit Invitational at St. Mary’s on Saturday.

Swimming and Diving hosts the Delta League Championships at Jesuit April 28-29. The diving league meet will be held on April 27. Lacrosse completes the regular season with road games at Granite Bay (April 26) and Casa Roble (April 29). Soccer (JV/V) hosts Sheldon on Monday and travels to Franklin on Wednesday, April 27. Softball has games at Davis (April 27) and at home against Elk Grove (April 29). Lacrosse Wins Holy Stix over Christian Brothers

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Sarah Westover scored in overtime to give St. Francis a 10-9 win over Christian Brothers.

“It is the most satisfying feeling in the world,” said Westover. “We worked so hard and there were a bunch of weird calls. The fact that we were able to capitalize and get the ball back and finish to the end was so satisfying.”

Softball Defeats McClatchy Behind Three Homers

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis hit three home runs as the Troubadours improved to 7-7-1 on the season with a 13-1 victory over McClatchy Tuesday afternoon at Schuster Field.

“The whole team is bonding now and getting closer together,” said Smith. “We are getting the hang of things and the hitting is contagious.”

Soccer Falls to Davis 1-0 on PK

DAVIS, Calif. – The St. Francis soccer team fell 1-0 to Davis Monday night in a hard fought battle between two of the best teams in the Delta League.

“This was a positive for me,” said Head Coach Maryclaire Robinson. “We played the best team in the league, lost 1-0 on a PK. Yes, we chased but quite frankly I thought our team defense was great. We played hard. That is all I can ask. We can walk out with our heads held high. I am looking forward.”

Soccer takes on Davis in Davis Monday night with the JV game at 5:00 and Varsity at 7:00 p.m. The freshman soccer team is at Rocklin on Monday while the JV softball team is at Oak Ridge. Softball (V) plays a makeup game with McClatchy on Tuesday at St. Francis. Track and Field hosts Franklin and Pleasant Grove and Swimming hosts Grant and Sheldon in a doubleheader at Jesuit on Wednesday. Lacrosse is at Christian Brothers for Holy Stix with a St. Francis Booster Que with games at 4 and 5:30 p.m. Soccer (JV/V) is at Elk Grove and the Frosh Soccer team hosts Franklin at Stanford Park. Softball Defeats Franklin 7-4

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sophomore Mary Baccay went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI as St. Francis posted a 7-4 victory over Franklin on Wednesday.

“It feels good because it really brought up our confidence going into the rest of the season,” said Baccay.

St. Francis broke open a 2-2 game in the fourth with a five-run inning. Shelby Tevis and Lauren Washburn had RBI singles before Baccay singled to score Washburn. Akeylah Moses knocked in Hannah Willover and the Troubadours added a fifth run off a Wildcat error.
