Lacrosse Earns North Coast Section Berth
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis lacrosse team is seeded 15th in the North Coast Section bracket and will play at No. 2 California in the bracket released by the North Coast Section. The game will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10 in San Ramon.
Track and Field Advances 10 from Trials
DAVIS, Calif. – The St. Francis track and field team set the stage for an exciting final next week with strong performances in the Delta League Trials Friday at Davis High School. The Troubies qualified nine athletes in 13 events and scored 11 points in the first three event finals.
Wilson Repeats as Section Diving Champion
MODESTO, Calif. – Junior Molly Wilson defended her Sac-Joaquin Section diving title on Saturday at Johansen High School to earn a berth in the CIF State Diving Championships.
“I worked really hard this season,” said Wilson. “It feels good to win. I could have done better and I was starting to get a little down on myself. But with my last two dives I let it go and had fun with it.”
Diver Molly Wilson Wins Section North Trials
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Molly Wilson won the Sac-Joaquin Section North Diving Trials on Thursday with a personal-best and High School All-America qualifying score of 458.40, advancing to Saturday’s finals with berths to the state championships on the line.
“It feels good (to win this meet),” said Wilson. “I have worked really hard throughout the diving season. I am glad my hard work is paying off.”

Softball will play three regular season road games. Swimming is off in prep for the section championships and track and field will compete in the first leg of the championship season with the Delta League Trials at Davis on May 5. Hennessy Breaks 300m Hurdles Record at MOC
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Senior Elizabeth Hennessy broke the school record in the 300-meter hurdles Saturday, clocking a 43.91 at the Meet of Champions at American River College. She broke the mark of 44.17 by Amanda Schnabel in 2013, improving on her personal-best of 44.37.
Swimming Finishes Second at Delta League Champs
CARMICHAEL, Calif. – The St. Francis swimming and diving team finished second overall behind four second and three third-place finishes on the final day of the Delta League Championships at Jesuit High School.
St. Francis was in a battle with Davis all meet. After entering with a lead thanks to the sweep by diving and the Delta League title by Molly Wilson, the Troubadours led after the first day that featured three relay finals and challenged all meet against the Blue Devils, who finally out-scored the St. Francis 506.5 to 477.5.
Swimming and Diving Leads After First Day
CARMICHAEL, Calif. – Behind a strong diving performance on Wednesday and three second-place relay finishes, the St. Francis swimming and diving leads after the first day of the Delta League championships. St. Francis leads 65.5 to 41.5 over Davis.
“We setup some second swims,” said Head coach Richard Levin. “The more we can get in the big final, the better. The diving cushion was a big help today.”

Golfer Alcoran Selected for First Tee Event in Atlanta
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Olivia Alcoran has been selected one of 24 girls nationwide by The First Tee to participate in the 2017 John Deere Drive Your Future Academy in Atlanta, GA on June 19-22.
She’ll have a chance to win a $5,000 scholarship plus the opportunity to be a VIP guest and pro-am participant at the John Deere Classic in July 2017. The event will take place at East Lake GC, the site of the TOUR Championship and final event of the PGA Tour FedEx Cup series.
Divers Sweep League Championships
CARMICHAEL, Calif. – Junior Molly Wilson won the Delta League diving meet on Wednesday with a score of 425.85 to become the fourth consecutive Troubie to win the league title.
Overall, SF placed the top four finishers in the varsity competition. Wilson, who finished second to Tiffany Wong in 2016, posted a 425.85 to win by almost 100 poiints. Junior Julia Endicott was second with a score of 329.85 and freshman Maddy Miles scored 246.10 to place third. Junior Cami Lutes posted a 248.05 to finish fourth.
Caldwell Pitches and Powers Softball to Victory
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Catie Caldwell hit a grand slam and pitched 4.2 scoreless innings of relief to lead the Troubadours to a 14-4 victory over Monterey Trail.
“It feels pretty great,” said Caldwell. “After I hit the home run, I started shaking because I was so excited. I helped my team out and did my best. I put my part into the team effort.”
2017 Soccer Highlights
- St. Francis finished with a 15-5-4 overall record, losing to No. 14 Folsom in the Sac-Joaquin Section quarterfinals. The No-6 seeded Troubadours defeated No. 11 Modesto 3-0 in the opening round.
- St. Francis was 10-2-2- in Delta League play, finishing second overall in the team standings. Sophomore Janae DeFazio tied for the Delta League individual lead in goals with 16 and led the league in points.

Swimming Posts Victory over Carondelet
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis swimming teams posted a pair of victories over Carondelet last week to wrap up their dual meet season. The Troubadours went 8-1 in dual meets during the season.
“This dual helps us with our team confidence,” said Head Coach Richard Levin. “We swam well at the California Catholic Challenge and finished fourth. It is significant because we have never beat them in my time at St. Francis. It shows there is more left in the tank and we are getting hot at the right time of the season.”
Spring Signing Day Highlights St. Francis Students
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Twelve St. Francis seniors have committed to play a sport in college during the spring signing period that started Wednesday and were celebrated at a ceremony at the school today. Overall, 17 St. Francis student-athletes from the Class of 2017 have made commitments or signed a National Letter-of-Intent this year.
The Troubadours made commitments to schools including Duke and Stanford and several California schools from American River College to UC San Diego. The Troubies will travel as far as away as New Hampshire to play softball at Saint Anselm.
Diver Wilson Wins DeLaSalle Invitational
CONCORD, Calif. – Freshman Madison Miles finished fifth among four Troubadours with a score of 136.65 in the varsity competition at the DeLaSalle Invitational on Monday. Junior Molly Wilson won the meet with a score of 246.20. Callista Stanley (114.40) and Maddie Covert (113.10) finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
In the JV meet, Claudia Campos (108.200 and Arissa Vallejo (72.65) also competed.

Ladd Breaks Pole Vault Mark Again at Easter Invite
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis won both meets at the Jesuit Invitational, out-scoring Monterey Trail among 14 teams 134.5-111 on the varsity side, while the Frosh/Soph team scored 113 points to lead an 11-team field.
Senior Monet Lopez to Play Soccer at ARC
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior Monet Lopez will continue her soccer career at American River College. She will be part of the St. Francis Signing Day Celebration on Wednesday, joining 11 classmates who have made commitments to play a sport in college.
Tijerino-Santos to Play Soccer for ARC
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior soccer player Savannah Tijerino-Santos has committed to play for American River College and will join the local program to play and attend school next fall.
“I am very excited and I am glad I get to keep playing soccer,” said Tijerino-Santos. “I would have been upset if I had stopped playing after high school. Doing it with one of my best friends, I am super excited.”
Savannah will joins classmate Monet Lopez in joining the ARC program coached by Paul Arellanes.
Elizabeth Hennessy to Run for UCSD
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior Elizabeth Hennessy will continue her track career next year, competing for the UC San Diego Tritons. She is one of 11 Troubadours making commitments to play or compete collegiately next fall during the spring signing period.
Ferguson to Continue Water Polo Career at Santa Clara
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior Sally Ferguson, who scored the winning goal in the section championship match in 2015, will continue her water polo career at Santa Clara next season.
“I am really excited I get to extend my water polo career,” said Ferguson. “I would have been sad if it ended here. I am excited to be part of a team in college. It will definitely be a lot of fun.”
Big Weekend at Arcadia Invitational
ARCADIA, Calif. – Led by a school record in the 4×1600-meter relay on Friday night, the St. Francis track and field team was well represented at the Arcadia Invitational.
The 4×1600-meter relay reset the record set last season of 22:28.11 by Sophie DeBenedetti, Alana Reyna, Gabrielle Dyer and Chase Worthen. DeBenedetti paired with Kathryn Kramer, Noelle Lynch and Sydney Vandegrift to win the race in 21:11.79.
Divers Finish Second and Sixth at Jesuit Invite
RIO LINDA, Calif. – Junior Molly Wilson finished second at the Jesuit Invitational with a career-best 441.90 on her 11-dive list.
“I think I did ok,” said Wilson. “I could have done better on a couple of my dives but I am happy with my overall performance. Hopefully I can hit every dive at sections.”
Junior Camille Lutes finished sixth overall with a score of 159.85.
Volleyball’s Schutz Named a Lackey Scholarship Recipient
LODI, Calif. – St. Francis senior Claire Schutz was named a recipient of the A. Dale Lacky/CSEA Scholarship awarded by the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section office and will recognized at a ceremony on April 25. Schutz was selected to represent the Delta League as the league’s top female student-athlete and will receive a $500 scholarship.
