St. Francis Senior Addie Wallace to Join Villanova Soccer Program

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior Addie Wallace will sign a National Letter-of-Intent to attend and play soccer at Villanova University next fall. She will participate in a ceremony at St. Francis Wednesday morning at 9 a.m.

“I really liked the school and coaches,” said Wallace about her recruitment to the Philadelphia school.  “It has been nice to know where I was going especially since I love the school.”

St. Francis Goalie Catie Brown to Sign with SMU

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior Catie Brown still has work to do on the soccer field for the Troubadours this spring but she will solidify her college plans next month. She will sign a National Letter of Intent to play soccer and attend Southern Methodist University on Feb. 4.

Brown, who will play her third season for the St. Francis soccer team, committed to SMU last July. The early decision has allowed her to complete the last two years of her career without the stress of a college decision.

Senior Madison Kimball to Sign with Loyola Chicago

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Madison Kimball had a good idea what she was looking for in her college experience. So she took an active role in deciding her path and has found her perfect school. The St. Francis senior is committed to attend and play soccer at Loyola University Chicago.

“I wanted a Jesuit school with a good soccer program and academics,” said Kimball. “We were looking at the different options and my mom asked me about Loyola-Chicago. At first, I thought it might be a little far away.”

Soccer’s Barrett to Play in Republic Futures Match

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis junior soccer player Hailey Barrett has been selected to participate in the Women’s Futures Match at the Sacramento Republic FC game on Thursday, Sept. 4. Special ticket prices are setup for St. Francis families and students to attend the game. The Women’s Futures Match is a game to highlight some of the top female soccer players in the Sacramento Area. Sacramento is a hotbed for talented women soccer players and has produced a plethora of successful collegiate athletes, including recent St.

Troubadours to Compete in New Delta League

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis will play in the Delta League beginning this fall with many familiar faces and several new ones.

“The Delta League has a lot of history and it is great it is back in existence,” said Delta League Commissioner Ron Nocetti.

The Troubadours move into the newly formed Delta League along with Pleasant Grove and Sheldon from the Delta River League. The league is a realignment of members of both the Delta River and Delta Valley Leagues.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis alumna Erica Jahn does not suit up for Sacramento Republic FC but she has played a big role in their inaugural season. In her first season as an account executive, Jahn has helped the team post attendance records all season.

Soccer Celebrates Section Title, No. 1 Ranking by MaxPreps

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis soccer team earned the No. 1 ranking in the state of California and No. 17 national ranking by MaxPreps following their Sac-Joaquin Section win last weekend. The Troubadours ascended to the No. 1 ranking after finishing a 21-3-5 season with a postseason run that included wins over Armijo (4-2), Enochs (5-4), Granite Bay (1-0) and Oak Ridge (1-0) in the SJS playoffs.

St. Francis won their 13th section title in school history and first since 2010.

Gregg Named River Cats Girls Soccer Player of the Year
17 Troubadours Named to All-City Teams

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis junior soccer player Anna Gregg was named the River Cats Girls Soccer Player of the Year at the High School Awards Ceremony before Sunday’s game against the Tacoma Rainers.

“It means so much and feels so great,” said Gregg of the Player of the Year honor. “I set a goal to help to the section championship and that was accomplished. I could not be happier.”

Gregg and her St. Francis teammates captured the Sac-Joaquin Section title on Saturday on her goal to defeat Oak Ridge 1-0.

Soccer Wins Sac-Joaquin Section Championship

ELK GROVE, Calif. – Junior Anna Gregg scored in the 20th minute and No. 4 seed St. Francis held on to defeat No. 3 seed Oak Ridge 1-0 in the championship game of the Les Schwab Tires Sac-Joaquin Section Playoffs presented by Farmers Insurance.

St. Francis (21-3-5) won their 13th section title in school history and first since 2010.

Gregg, who scored at least one goal in all four playoff games, connected on a shot from the left side to the right corner that snuck in past the right bar on the ground to put the Troubadours up 1-0 just 20 minutes into the game.

17 Troubadours Named to River Cats All-City Teams

SACRAMENTO, – Calif.  – Seventeen St. Francis Troubadours have been named to the 2013-14 River Cats All-City  teams and will be recognized on Sunday at the High School Sports Awards Ceremony before the River Cats take on the Tacoma Rainiers at 1:05 p.m. at Raley Field.

The St. Francis All-City fall sports selections include senior golfer Emily Laskin, volleyball seniors Ali Koumelis and Anna Baytosh and cross country runners Lauren LaRocco, Madison Rawson and Miranda Myers.
