Nine St. Francis Seniors Make College Commitments

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Nine St. Francis High School seniors signed a National Letter-of-Intent or made a commitment to play collegiate sports next year at schools across the country Wednesday. They were recognized on campus as part of the school’s formal fall signing day recognition.

The event was broadcast on the TroubieTV Network on PlayOn Sports.

Lacrosse Coach Wilson to Leave Program

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis lacrosse head coach Kristy Wilson will not return for the 2015 season in order pursue personal opportunities out of state.

“We thank Kristy for all her hard work and dedication to the St. Francis lacrosse program as she takes on a new chapter in her life,” said Athletic Director Mark McGreevy. “She has been a great leader and role model for our young ladies in the program and played a significant role in the development of the St. Francis program.”

2014 Lacrosse Highlights

  • St. Francis advanced to the North Coast Section playoffs and lost in the first round at Granite Bay. The Troubadours finished the season with a 9-10 overall record.
  • St. Francis placed six players on the Sacramento Valley Lacrosse Conference All-League team, including three first-team selections. Juniors Hayley Kusserow, Ryleigh Bone and Erika Palmer were all first-team selections as selected by the league coaches.
  • Kusserow led the team in scoring with 57 goals and was named the team’s Most Valuable Attacker.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis lacrosse team placed six players on the Sacramento Valley Lacrosse Conference All-League team, including three first-team selections. Juniors Hayley Kusserow, Ryleigh Bone and Erika Palmer were all first-team selections as selected by the league coaches.

Ryleigh Bone Selected to Play for Nor Cal in US Lacrosse National Tournament

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Rising senior Ryleigh Bone was selected to represent Northern California at the 2014 US Lacrosse National Tournament in Bel Air, Md., from May 24-25.

Bone, who hails from Granite Bay, Calif., was selected to the Nor Cal Team 1 after tryouts April 27 in Atherton, Calif. She is among the 40 players chosen to play on one of the two Northern California teams and they represent 23 different high school programs. She will be coached by Amy Harms (St. Ignatius) and Rachael Martinez (Cal High).

Lacrosse Standout Carpenter to Play at Wheeling Jesuit

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A soccer and basketball player growing up, Lyndsay Carpenter knew how to shoot using her feet and hands. But a lacrosse stick was a foreign object to her four years ago. Fast forward to her senior season, Carpenter will be playing lacrosse in college on a scholarship. She has come a long way.

“Lyndsay is an athlete and they make great lacrosse players especially ones that come over from basketball,” said St. Francis Head Coach Kristy Wilson. “They see the game well and make especially good defenders.”

Lacrosse Drops Section Playoff Game at Granite Bay

GRANITE BAY, Calif. – The St. Francis lacrosse team fell to Granite Bay for the third time this season, eliminating the Troubadours from the first round of the North Coast Section playoffs. The Grizzlies posted a 20-8 victory over St. Francis, advancing to the second round.

“We started off pretty strongly,” said Head Coach Kristi Wilson. “When we got the ball on our attack, we did a great job of spacing it out and our shooting percentage was strong.”

Playoff Bracket Change: Lacrosse Now Seeded 11th and Plays at Granite Bay

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis lacrosse team is seeded 11th in the North Coast Section bracket and will play at No. 11 Granite Bay in the latest revision released by the North Coast Section. The game will take place at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14.

St. Francis and Granite Bay will be playing for the third time this season and for the second consecutive game overall. The Troubadours finished with regular season with a 15-9 loss at Granite Bay on May 8 and dropped a home match against the Grizzlies 15-10 on April 1

Lacrosse Drops Regular Season Finale 15-9

GRANITE BAY, Calif. – The St. Francis lacrosse team was close at the half but Granite Bay pulled away in the second half to post a 15-9 victory.

The Troubadours trailed just 6-5 at the break.

Colleen McClain had a team-best three goals in the game, while Hayley Kusserow and Erika Palmer each added two. Madison McKim and Emily Bush also scored in the game.

St. Francis fell to 9-9 on the season. North Coast Section brackets will be announced on Saturday.

Four Student-Athletes Honored by SFHS Booster Club

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The SFHS Booster Club recognized four senior student-athletes at the 2014 Awards Ceremony.

Senior Lauren LaRocco was named the SFHS Booster Club Scholar-Athlete Scholarship recipient, while Brinnley Barthels, Emily Laskin and Jane Sadler were named winners of the SFHS Booster Club Leadership Scholarship.

Lacrosse Falls at San Ramon Valley

SAN RAMON, Calif. – The St. Francis lacrosse team lost 16-9 at San Ramon Valley Tuesday night.

Colleen McClain scored three times and Hayley Kusserow and Sarah Westover each added two goals in the loss.Erika Plamer and Meg Anderson each added a goal for the Troubadours.

St. Francis dropped to 9-8 on the season. The Troubies play at Granite Bay on Thursday to close the regular season. North Coast Section playoff brackets will be announced on Saturday.

Lacrosse Posts Decisive Victory over Casa Roble

ORANGEVALE, Calif. – The St. Francis lacrosse team posted a 19-1 victory over Casa Roble Friday night as five players had multi-goal scoring games.

Junior Hayley Kusserow led the offensive charge with four goals, while Colleen McClain added three goals. Sarah Westover, Ryleigh Bone and Maggie Anderson added two goals each in the winning effort.

Erika Palmer, Meg Anderson, Ryanne Brust, Lyndsay Carpenter, Kelly Chavez and Mia Bonini also scored in the game.

Lacrosse Drops Senior Night Game to Davis

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Hayley Kusserow scored four goals but it was not enough as Davis spoiled the St. Francis senior game with a 13-10 victory in the home regular season final for the Troubadours.

Seniors Ryanne Brust, Lyndsay Carpenter, Mackenzie Campbell and Jane Sadler were playing their final home games and were honored with their parents in a pre-game ceremony.

Davis led 6-5 at the break and held off St. Francis in the second half. The Troubadours won only five draws in the contest. Goalie Maddie Merwin made nine saves in the goal.

Eight St. Francis Seniors Make Commitments Bringing Total to 32

The Troubadour commitments include Allison Autrey (Diving, UC Davis), Brinnley Barthels (Water Polo, Pacific), Ryanne Brust (Lacrosse, Fort Lewis),  Alexa LoGiudice (Volleyball, Dominican), Ileana MacDonald (Golf, Chico State) and Alexis Viramontes (Softball, CSU Dominguez Hills).

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Eight St. Francis High School seniors have signed a National Letter-of Intent or made commitments to play collegiate sports next fall for the NCAA signing period that began today. Overall, thirty-two Troubadour student-athletes have now made commitments to play collegiately next year.

Lacrosse Beats Oak Ridge for Second Time

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Hayley Kusserow scored six goals and Colleen McClain added three as St. Francis defeated Oak Ridge 11-7 Friday night.

It was the second consecutive victory over Oak Ridge.

Lacrosse Wins First of Two against Oak Ridge

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Jane Sadler scored four times and Meg Anderson added three goals as St. Francis posted a 15-9 victory over Oak Ridge Tuesday night in the first of two meetings between the schools this week.

The Troubadours led 7-4 at the break and continued the offensive success in the second, scoring eight times. Goalie Maddie Merwin made 11 saves on the night.

Hayley Kusserow and Colleen McClain each scorer two times in the winning effort. Sarah Westover, Erika Palmer, Mia Bonini. Lyndsay Carpenter and Madison McKim also scored in the game.
