Westover to Play Lacrosse at USC

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior Sarah Westover has committed to play lacrosse at USC and will sign with the Trojans on Nov. 9.

“This year after my official visit and being in the life of USC, I am really excited to get there and experience it,” said Westover, who originally committed to the Trojans as a sophomore. “They are such a family. They are all about winning as well as your well-being.”

Lacrosse Falls at Oak Ridge in Conference Semifinals

EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. – Top-seeded Oak Ridge advanced to the finals of the Sacramento Valley Lacrosse Conference with a 15-9 victory over St. Francis Tuesday night. But the Troubadours second-half rally pushed Oak Ridge until the end.

Lacrosse Closes Regular Season on Senior Night

FAIR OAKS, Calif. – The celebration had to wait a week but it still was a special night for the nine St. Francis lacrosse seniors who played their final regular season game Friday night, defeating Bella Vista 18-5.

“Senior night meant a lot because this is four years wrapped up in a game,” said Erika Palmer. “Even though we started slow in the beginning, we finished out so strong. It made me so happy and proud of my team.”

Lacrosse Falls to Granite Bay in League Match

GRANITE BAY, Calif. – St. Francis fell to Granite Bay on Tuesday night 19-7 despite four goals from senior Maggie Anderson.

The Troubadours also got goals from Sarah Westover, Meg Anderson and Megan Hoffeditz. Westover had eight draw controls and freshman goalie Kate MacIntyre recorded six ground balls and made 12 saves on the night.

Lacrosse Wins Holy Stix over Christian Brothers

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Junior Sarah Westover scored in overtime to give St. Francis a 10-9 win over Christian Brothers.

“It is the most satisfying feeling in the world,” said Westover. “We worked so hard and there were a bunch of weird calls. The fact that we were able to capitalize and get the ball back and finish to the end was so satisfying.”

2016 St. Francis Spring Signing Day

Seven student-athletes have signed or committed to plays sports at collegiate programs across the nation in conjunction with the third NCAA National Signing Day. Overall, St. Francis has 25 student-athletes from the class of 2016 playing sports in college this fall.

Lacrosse Falls to Granite Bay

MATHER, Calif. – St. Francis fell to Granite Bay on Tuesday 20-8 at Mather Sports Complex. Junior Sarah Westover scored three times for the Troubadours and Grace Passantino and Meg Anderson added two goals each in the loss.

“I think we worked really hard,” said Meg Anderson. “But we still need to practice harder and push each other so we can improve on both ends offensively and defensively so can come out stronger next time.”

Lacrosse Falls to Davis in League Game

MATHER, Calif. – The St. Francis lacrosse team fell behind early but rallied to play a solid second half in a 16-5 loss to Davis Friday night.

“We have been practicing a lot about being positive all the time,” said Co-Head Coach Spenser Rubalcaba. “We have working through adversity. They were able to come back at the end of this game and bring up their energy. They really brought that to the second half and we need to play like that all the time. They are capable of it. They just need to execute it.”

Maggie Anderson to Play Lacrosse at Walsh

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior Maggie Anderson has committed to play lacrosse at Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio and will participate in the Signing Day Celebration on April 13.

“The reason I want to play college lacrosse is because I love the game,” said Anderson. “I started playing when I was 10 to annoy my older brother and I fell in love with the sport. There is something I found with lacrosse that I didn’t find in soccer or any other sport or activity. There was just something I loved about it and connected to.”

Lacrosse Defeats Justin-Siena

NAPA, Calif. – Jade Borg scored five goals and Maggie Anderson added four in a 17-8 victory over Justin-Siena Tuesday night.

Borg scored five goals and added two assists. Grace Passantino led the team with three assists. Mia Bonini and Erika Palmer both had multiple-goal games and Meg Anderson and Megan Hoffeditz tallied scores in the game.

Palmer and Passantino led the team with five and four ground balls, respectively. Meg Anderson was efficient on the draw, controlling 4 out of five, while Maggie Anderson recorded 8 out of 12.

Lacrosse Wins Battle of St. Francis

MATHER, Calif. – St. Francis built a three-goal lead in the second half and held on for a 11-10 win as Maggie Pinkston stopped two shots in the final seconds to defeat St. Francis of Mountain View 11-10 Friday night.

“We totally gritted that game out,” said Co-Head Coach Julia Southard. “We had a lot of team connections and it was a total team effort.  It was the first time we have that this season.”

Lacrosse Posts Big Win over Bella Vista

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Six players had two or more goals and eight players scored overall in a 19-2 victory over Bella Vista Tuesday night at Mather Sports Complex.

Junior Sarah Westover scored a team-high five goals and recorded two assists and had 10 draw controls. Senior Meg Anderson scored three times and won 3-of-4 draw controls and recorded a team-best five ground balls. Freshman Jade Borg also had three goals in the win.

Lacrosse Drops Weekend Finale in Overtime

PLEASONTON, Calif. – The St. Francis lacrosse team had a great team effort in a 10-9 overtime loss to Foothill Saturday afternoon to close out a two-game Bay Area road trip.

St. Francis (2-5) got goals from six different players in the loss. Junior midfielder Sarah Westover scored three goals and added an assist and freshmen Jade Borg had two goals and two assists. Senior Maggie Anderson tallied three points with a goal and two assists.

Lacrosse Falls to Oak Ridge

EL DORADO, Calif. – Oak Ridge posted a 13-6 win over St. Francis Tuesday night in a Sacramento Valley Lacrosse League matchup.

The Trojans out-scored the Troubadours 9-2 in the second half to pull away after the teams were tied at 4 at the half.

Meg Anderson, Erika Palmer, Maggie Anderson and Jade Borg scored in the first half. The teams were tied at 5 after Sarah Westover scored in the second. But Oak Ridge scored eight unanswered goals  to pull out the win. Emily Bush scored late to cut the final margin to 7.

Lacrosse Wins 10-9 over Palo Alto

RANCHO CORDOVA, Calif. – Freshman Jade Borg scored the game winner with 13 seconds remaining to help St. Francis to a 10-9 victory over Palo Alto Saturday in rainy and blustery conditions at Mather Sports Complex.

“It was really good,” said Borg of the game winner. “It was a nice assist. It was hard at the beginning (playing in the conditions) but you just had to push past the rain. In the end, you did not notice it was raining.”

Borg’s goal, one her three on the day, came in the final seconds on an assist by Sarah Westover.

Spring Impact Testing
